Are you a practical, reliable, and flexible person who enjoys fixing things and keeping spaces safe and welcoming? We’re looking for a Site Agent (Handyman/Person) to join a friendly nursery team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a can-do attitude who can be help with general maintenance, small repairs, and ensuring the nursery premises remain clean, safe, and well-maintained.
– Carry out basic maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks around the nursery (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing shelves, hanging picture frames, fixing door handles, locks, painting, etc.).
– Conduct routine safety checks and minor electrical or plumbing repairs where qualified.
– Respond to urgent maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly.
– Helping with setup, moving furniture or equipment when needed.
– Carry out basic grounds maintenance (e.g., clearing leaves, sweeping, salting paths in winter).
– Ensure external areas (e.g., car park, pathways, play areas) are safe and clean.
– Assist with site security, including unlocking/locking the building when required.
– Maintain tools and materials in a safe, working condition.
– Work in line with safeguarding procedures and ensure all health and safety standards are upheld.
✔ GCSE Maths / English at Grade C or above or Functional Skills Level 2n English and Maths.
✔ Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Office, email, etc.).
✔ Proven experience in general maintenance or handyman roles.
✔ Practical skills in basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, or similar trades.
✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
✔ A flexible and responsive approach to work.
✔ Ability to multitask, prioritise, and remain calm under pressure.
✔ Ability to work independently and take initiative.
✔ A positive, can-do attitude and a team player mindset.
✔ Understanding of safeguarding and data protection.
✔ Current Safeguarding certification.
✔ Current COSHH certification.
✔ Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
✔ Experience in a school or childcare setting is a bonus, but not essential.
